I've been asked by loads of viewers to review the original Star Wars Trilogy or possible of one of the films. I've always felt it difficult what else to say because they have been discussed a lot in great lengths.
But If I had to review one which one and why?.

I agree. Don't think there's really more you can say about the original trilogy, though I'd be interested to see what you can come up with. Suppose if you're a glutton for punishment, you could review the Holiday Special or the Ewok movies!

Yeah I do have the Ewok movies!. I had thought about Return of The Jedi because even though I love it and many people do it has its problems, with the silly dance sequence at Jabba's Palace, recycled ideas from Episode IV ( death Star ) and of course everyones love hate relationship with the Ewoks.

Yes!That would be perfect ,Return of The Jedi is the most interesting out of the whole trilogy imho. |

I find it funny in the latest editions of SW they thrown in loads of random shots of Bobba fett walking past camera a bunch of times but in the film he gets defeated very quickly. Just pandering to fans of the character.

Ugh, awful what they did with Boba Fett. Goes from total badass in Empire to bumbling stooge in Jedi. Was he drunk when he stepped outside the barge? There were plenty of drinks on board. See R2.

I would suppose Return of the Jedi would be the best choice because you could encompass the trilogy as a whole with a summation. ROTJ is the one film in the OT that has declined as I've gotten older. I think the film lacks the peril and rhythm of the first two movies. I did a very extensive written review of the movie several months ago that detal those points. Whereas the first two did a lot of intercutting between the various storylines and characters, ROTJ is very minimal on that resulting in a more compartmentalized film. The pace is much slower than even The Empire Strikes Back, and the slow paced beginning makes it hard for me to get into the film these days. Still, it has some great moments and is a fine conclusion to the trilogy. Yeah, you have a repeat of Tatooine and the Death Star and Dagobah. For the big finale to the trilogy, Jedi felt oddly... smaller than the other films. (If that makes sense.)

I think the middle part of Jedi where they discuss the attack on the death star and there journey to Endor and before they encounter the Ewoks the pace of the movie comes to a halt, its not to say it isn't entertaining but as I get older it feels very slow in comparison to Episode IV and V where the pacing was at a good speed.

One thing I find disappointing when I watch Jedi now is Harrison Ford's performance. He seems to be phoning it in in some of his scenes, like he didn't want to be there. Think the whole Blade Runner experience may have soured him to sci-fi/fantasy at that point. And he wanted to go Amish...

Well, Ford was in agreement with Lawrence Kasdan in believing Han should die in ROTJ. He felt he didn't have any integral role to play in the story, and that his arc had concluded. Plus, with Indiana Jones being HIS launching point into solid stardom, he probably felt like Han Solo was a hanging thread that he wanted tied off sooner than later.
And yeah, the film does grind to a halt in the middle because the middle of the film is taking ALL the time to setup the plot and character threads of the film, which should have been sprinkled in throughout the first act of the movie. ROTJ has almost two sets of three act structures. The entire rescue of Han from Jabba works as its own three act adventure. Then, once that's done with, we start a brand new plot line that puts us back to the first act of the story when Luke visits Dagobah and then the briefing on the Death Star II takes place. I really think ROTJ's problems are mainly structural. Add in some deleted scenes, re-structure the movie, tighten up a few things, and it could flow much more consistently.

I think both Empire and Jedi would make good retrospectives. Sure many people rant on about them, but one thing that your videos have that others don't is an emphasis on both story and behind the scenes production. You don't see much of that in any other star wars reviews so i think it would make yours unique in that regard. Most of the behind the scenes stories are compelling enough for reviews alone and it would be awesome to see what you could do with them. Big fan of your work and's its helpled me a lot in finding out more about 80s and 90s films and i think it would be awesome if these films could be part of that.

Hi 'thehumblehagfish' thanks for joining and good to hear from you. yeah I will seriously consider a Star Wars for review early next year!. Just need to find the right time and make sure what I've got to say is relevant and is fair and not biased and obviously provide a fresh take.
